April is National Safe Digging Month.
During National Safe Digging Month, individuals are reminded to call 811 to find their utility lines at least 72 hours before excavating or digging. With just one phone call, accidents, property damage, and irritating utility disruptions can all be prevented.
With more than 1,400 members, the Common Ground Alliance is a member-driven organization that supports railroads, licensed excavators, emergency management agencies, and utility and energy providers. The CGA is committed to increasing awareness of the value of subterranean protection among the general population.
Through several efforts, including National Safe Digging Month, the CGA’s main goal is to reduce losses and near misses to the underground infrastructure of pipes, conduits, wires, and cables. National Safe Digging Month in April is one approach to increased awareness.
